Apple Watch: Save Another Firefighter Life!

The Apple Watch has once again shown its life-saving qualities, this time assisting a Canadian firefighter in diagnosing a dangerous cardiac problem.

Apple watch Save Another Life

“Travis Chalmers (age 44 year around)” and his son were playing road hockey. That time he suddenly felt some warm sensation in his chest and headache. Chalmers initially mistook his symptoms for the flu or allergies, but after receiving a message from his Apple Watch, he realized his heart rate was extremely high and sought medical assistance.

According to Canada Global News, Chalmers’ Apple Watch first detected atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition characterized by an irregular and sometimes rapid heart beat that increases the risk of stroke and heart failure. Even though he tried to rest, his heart rate remained erratic. Chalmers went to the hospital after receiving continuous alarms from his watch.
Chalmers said, after about thirty minutes, my daughter and I were lying down, and my heart continued to race. I was hurried in after mentioning atrial fibrillation and explaining my symptoms.

When he arrived at the hospital and described his symptoms to doctor, he was swiftly assessed and informed that he was actually having a heart attack. Further testing verified the diagnosis, indicating a fully clogged artery.

Chalmers, who has no strong family records of heart disease and lives a healthy life, was taken surprised by the news. He thanked his Apple Watch with discovering the abnormalities that prompted him to seek medical attention, referring to it as a “second life” monitoring his health. So once again apple watch save another life.
